Educational Experience

All applicants are required to provide information about their educational background.

Failure to report all or part of a previous academic record, or misrepresentation of marks and achievements, are serious offenses and will result in rejection of the application and/or cancellation of the student's registration.

OUAC Reference Number
As part of our partnership with the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC), students from Ontario who apply to McGill and an Ontario University can have their transcripts, including grades, sent electronically to McGill via the OUAC. In order for this to occur we require you to provide us with your OUAC Reference Number. Once we receive your OUAC Reference Number we will request your grades from the OUAC on your behalf. This means that you will not be required to have your school send us an official copy of your transcripts. Please note that by supplying us with your OUAC Reference Number you are agreeing that OUAC can provide us with this information.

The OUAC number is an 11-digit number composed of the year of application for admission plus a 7 digit number which appears on your OUAC confirmation form. Enter the number without the dash (-). If you have a 6 digit number, please enter 0 as the last digit - e.g YYYY1234560. If this number is not available at the time of application, it should be submitted as soon as possible. Please carefully verify the accuracy of your OUAC number. Ontario applications that do not include the correct OUAC number are incomplete and cannot be processed until this information has been received.

If for any reason the electronic transcript is inaccessible, the University may require an official copy from the high school.

Warning: If you are an Ontario high school student who will graduate before April, who has taken or will take any distance, night or correspondence courses or, who will take summer school courses, it is very likely that some of your grades will not show on the electronic transcript we get from OUAC. You are therefore strongly advised to arrange for your school(s) to mail interim and final grades to our office as they become available.

British Columbia Education Number
Applicants who are B.C. high school students may include their Personal Education Number. If this number is not available at the time of application, it can be submitted as soon as possible. At this time final marks will not be sent directly to McGill electronically by the B.C. Ministry of Education. Applicants will have to make arrangements for final paper official transcripts to be sent to McGill
